June 06 (Daily Mirror) - Three individuals, including two teenage girls, drowned after being swept away by strong currents while bathing near the Daluwa estuary (Moya Kata) in Norochcholai on Saturday evening.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. on June 6. The victims have been identified as two young women aged 18 and 19, and a 24-year-old man.
Preliminary investigations revealed that all three victims were residents of the Puttalam area. They had reportedly visited the coastal location for an outing before entering the water.
Police said the group was caught in strong currents and subsequently went missing. Their bodies were later recovered following search efforts.
