Health guidelines related to public & work-related activities issued

The Health Ministry today issued a new set of guidelines to be followed by the people from November 01 to 15 when engaged in public and work-related activities.

According to new guidelines, public gatherings are not encouraged.

Talking about the use of public transport, safer transport methods should be used/ provided. Only seated passengers are allowed in public transport.

In addition, public and shared transport should preferably be non-air conditioned, and windows should be opened while all passengers should wear a mask properly during travel.

Meanwhile, the number of employees coming to the workplace can be limited, encouraging work from home. This does not apply to essential services and industries can operate with the minimum number of employees required.

The number of employees who can physically be present at work should be decided by the head of the institution. Breastfeeding mothers are required to report to work after their vacation.

When it comes to weddings, they can be held with a maximum of 1/3 of the hall capacity, not exceeding 100 persons while 150 persons are allowed when the function is held outside.

Funerals should be held within 24hrs of releasing the dead body with 20 attendees. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
