Chemical leak reported at Jayewardenepura Medical Faculty

Colombo, June 16 (Daily Mirror) - A chemical leak was reported this morning at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, prompting swift action from emergency services.

According to the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC), the incident occurred at the faculty’s chemical storage area. The university authorities immediately notified the Fire Department, whose officers arrived on-site to assess the situation.

Later, the Fire Department’s chemical safety officers inspected the premises and safely removed the leaked substance, ensuring the area was rendered risk-free.

The Sri Jayewardenepura University has launched an internal investigation to determine the cause of the leak. No injuries or further hazards were reported following the incident.
