CSD officer named Anura Kumara Disanayake trampled to death by wild elephant

Colombo, June 30 (Daily Mirror) - A Civil Security Constable attached to the Wilpattu Civil Security Department camp, named D. M. Anura Kumara Disanayake (47) was trampled to death by a wild elephant in the Pemaduwa area under the Mahawilachchiya police division on Sunday (29).

The victim had gone to his Chena cultivation on Saturday night to guard his sweet pumpkin crop from wild animals. According to his wife, he failed to return home as usual, prompting her to search for him the following morning.

Tragically, she discovered his lifeless body lying within the Chena. Investigations revealed that the constable had been attacked by a wild elephant while pollinating the pumpkin plants.

Mahawilachchiya Police are conducting further inquiries into the incident.
