21 illegal high-end bikes seized from Hambantota warehouse

Twenty-one illegally imported motorcycles, including eight luxury Harley-Davidson bikes and four tricycles, were seized during a raid conducted by police at the Hambantota Bird Park warehouse today.

Police said that officers from the Central Anti-Corruption Task Force carried out the raid following a tip-off received by the Acting Inspector General of Police.

During the operation, officers found the high-end Harley-Davidson motorcycles and tricycles among other bikes imported from various foreign manufacturers.

Police arrested the bird park’s manager and the warehouse supervisor, aged 40 and 53 who are residents of Matara and Middeniya.

Police also discovered a cultivation of cannabis plants within the bird park premises during the raid.
