The organisers of the prestigious annual Ride4Ceylon are busy making plans for  the 2024 ride. Created to  renovate the floundering Green Memorial Hospital, the charity has  gone from strength to strength. The hospital too is on an upward trajectory following all the funds that have been pumped into reviving its beating heart.

The 2024 ride will kickstart in the historical town of Kandy on 28th February.

The cyclists will peddle via Mahiyanganaya, Dambulla, Anuradhapura, Vavuniya until they reach Green Memorial Hospital in Manipay, Jaffna on 2nd March. The interest in the ride is far reaching, with cyclists expected from the United  Kingdom, USA, Canada, Australia and of course, Sri Lanka.

The designated route, starting in Kandy, will also highlight the cultural and scenic delights of our luscious land.

In addition, British rider Chris Williams, recently donned the R4C jersey as he  cycled from Milan to the Italian Dolomites. Situated in the northern Italian Alps, the Dolomites comprises of 18 peaks and rises above 3000 metres. Chris  steered up Stelvio (1832m), Gavia (1396m) and Mortirolo (1326m). It was a truly epic feat.

Once again, the Sri Lankan police will provide security for the participants.

Further support will be provided by Sri Lankan Tourism and the destination management company, House of Travels  (H.O.T).

With approximately 60 riders, the charity ride is considered one of the largest  in South East Asia. Requiring detailed logistical planning, R4C’s Sriomal De Silva cited the resulting growing enthusiasm for Sri Lanka as a holiday  location too.
