Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapaksa today requested the Speaker to take steps to summon Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) before Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) tomorrow to clarify his claim that a litre of fuel could be sold at Rs. 250.
He told Parliament that they got to know that the PUCSL Chairman had made a statement that a litre of fuel could be sold at Rs. 250 and said he should be summoned before the COPE to know the methodology of doing so.
"PUCSL Chairman has said that a litre of fuel could be sold at Rs. 250. We are not aware of this methodology. I request the Speaker to summon him through the COPE Chairman before the COPE tomorrow so that we can know the methodology," he said.(Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)

This is a first step - acknowledging failure. There are many things that the govt. doesnt have a clue about. They only know how to cling to power, and continue the agony for thw people.

Wijedasa you are washing clothes to Gota, do you know how long he will remain as a President? You are an opportunist hanging unto Gota to earn millions illegally, remember your days too are counted.

Mr. Minister, talk wisely - check the prices of fuel in the Asian countries first, everywhere the cost is very much lower than ours.
Russel Harmmer Wednesday, 06 July 2022 07:20 AM
We were getting fuel from India, recently the Indian Government reduced the prices of fuel, but you and your goons increased the prices to the maximum, what is the logic man, Wijedasa.
Prof. M. Ragavan Sivakumar Wednesday, 06 July 2022 07:22 AM
Compare the Global price of Fuel with ours Mr. Wijedasa, its too high. Being a wise man don't utter nonsense.

High value of Sri Lanka's fuel price is due to real depreciation of Rupee. The current exchange rate of rupees to Dollar must be Rs 450 or higher. If current exchange rate is ture, fuel price may be 250 due to decreasing of fuel price. Central bank governor is artificially mainten this rate. Rupee will collapse over 500 very soon.
