How can you expect that? The protesters are holding his office. He should get a letter head, seal etc. to give an official resignation.

Any interim administration must be formed excluding Ranil,Sirisena and any Rajapakshas and their stooges.

After a revolution, cannot expect any formal procedure to resign which is meaningless. Chief Justice with the support of IGP and the chiefs of armed forces must take action to form the new interim govt. temporarily headed by the Speaker. if anybody opposed this must be arrested and let the country move forward. If Speaker is still a Rajapaksha loyalist, appoint a brave capable another. No need to follow this constitution rejected by the people considering democratic governance in UK without any written constitution.
