Former MP Sajin Vaas Gunawardena today said he had lodged a police complaint saying that Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa had told another SLPP MP that Sajin and his family will be killed if he continued to support the New Democratic Front (NDF) presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa in the presidential election.
Speaking at a media briefing, he said that after making the police complaint, a letter describing the situation was sent to the Opposition Leader.
"I worked for the Rajapaksa family for 17 years, they expelled me after filing court cases. Still, I have two court cases over money laundering charges and misusing government properties. The previous government had filed the most number of cases against me," he said.
While reading out the letter to the media the former MP said his wife received telephone calls from a friendly Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP continuously requesting him to stop helping Sajith Premadasa for the election campaign.
But I did not consider the request, he said.
"I held a press briefing at Ambalangoda describing my opinion and the future of the SLFP and SLPP. After that my wife received the telephone call and said the same.
Then I decided to make the complaint to the police for the protection of my wife and my children, he said.
However, politicians have no authority to determine the death of any person. That should be decided by nature, he added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

You are a typical Sinhalese thug, UNP must be mad to accommodate you. What happens now between you and your former Rajapaksa masters is something none of us are interested.

The election commissioner and the police should take stern action, we hope the commissioner will stand by his strong words he pronounced from the beginning of this election and it's not just empty and meaningless words. A threat to a MP and his family is a very serious matter wether it is from a ex president, prime minister or a beggar. We Sri Lankans know that if it was a beggar he would be behind bars by now.

This is very serious allegation against someone once who held highest office in the country. It doesn't matter whether it is real or not. It must be investigated without delay and must punish everyone who is responsible for violating the constitutional rights of a citizen in the country. We will inform this to all international agencies and organizations for his personnel safety. We all know who is this and what both of them has done to the country. That is something else. Govt. must direct all law enforcement authorities for further investigation and impartial inquiry to protect our democratic values of the country. So sad.

Those live by the sward, die by the sward.
We should think of who we associate, before starting the relationships. Otherwise, these are the consequences.

The behaviour of the Rajapaksa mob will never change
