Colombo, April 16 (Daily Mirror) - The Immigration and Emigration Department today announced the implementation of new Visa procedures and the launch of an online Visa issuing system starting tomorrow, Immigration and Emigration Conroller General I.S.H.J. Illukpitiya said.
As per the new system, the fees for the issue of Visas, necessary amenities and the duration of stays in Sri Lanka are detailed in a gazette notification (2360/24) released on November 27, 2023.
According to the announcement, the durations and charges for Tourist, Business, Transit Visas are as follows:

Real cows. What has Sri Lanka to really offer compared to countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, cambodia, Indonesia etc. You are definitely going to loose tourists especially from Asia. You must give free or cheap visas

Hell of a way to promote tourism. It is so expensive to visit Sri Lanka as it is and $75 USD visit visa is a turn off since there is not much SL offers compared to neighbouring countries. For families who want to visit this is an additional burdensome expense. A flight to SL is USD $1300 off peak to $2000 average peak months. India visit visa from July to March is only $25 for 30 days. April to June it's only $10 for 30 days and for 5 year multiple entry it is $80. So basically the cost of a 30 day visit visa is equal to 5 year multiple entry to India. Seriously you guys need to do better than to be greedy at this point.

We make it so easy for foreigners to get visas. But if v try to get a visa it's usually long forms and endless documents. A queue and then spoke to as if U are criminals. An Interrogation! NO RESPECT!

Majority of tourists visit the country for visits less than 14 days. Increasing visa fees from $ 50 to $ 75 for such tourists seems poorly thought very bad move. This may be the highest visa fee in the region and many tourists will decide to go to Asian countries offering visa free entry for western passports

Where is the visa for a spouse of a Sri Lankan citizen? I am 70 years old and my has an indian passport. I have to go to immigration every 30 days to renew her visa even if i am sick. Travel from Kandy where i live? No Justice.
