Parliamentarians are unable to leave the Parliament premises as hundreds of protestors remain gathered outside despite being hit with tear gas and water cannons.
SJB MP Harin Fernando told Daily Mirror that all entrance and exits to the Parliament premises had been blocked by the protestors and MPs were stuck inside and would take some time to leave.
A video later surfaced on social media showing Fernando and Manusha Nanayakkara getting into a confrontation with the protestors as they tried to leave using another exit.
Fernando said the SJB would boycott Parliamentary proceedings till the No Confidence Motions against the President and government were not tabled in Parliament.
He said they were also against the Speaker's decision to adjourn Parliamentary proceedings till May 17, which was over 10 days away. (JAMILA HUSAIN)

Speaker should speak to PM and ask him to act under Standing Order 14 and summon an extraordinary meeting

Why do we need these Parliamentarians in the Parliament? They have not resolved any problem the country is facing. Protesters should let these Parliamentarians out and stop them from entering the Parliament until new Parliamentarians are elected

Don't allow any of the looters to leave the country. We need to deploy 'PEOPLES ARMED FORCE' at and near all entrances to the three airports. Let's grab them by the throat and hand them to 'PEOPLES CUSTODY'
