Colombo, Dec. 1 (Daily Mirror) - The Wildlife Conservation Department announced that several national parks temporarily closed due to the recent weather-related national disaster will reopen to visitors from today (December 1).
Wilpattu, Kumana, Horton Plains, Minneriya, Kaudulla, and Yala National Parks (except Block VI) were closed to day tourists and lodges from November 28 as heavy rains caused flooding and hazardous conditions.
With waterlogging subsiding and access roads restored in some areas, the Department confirmed that Kumana, Horton Plains, and Yala National Park (Block V) will reopen to day visitors tomorrow.
Authorities said further updates on the remaining parks will be provided based on ongoing safety assessments.
