The residences of several SLPP MPs have come under attack by mobs of protesters and some have been set ablaze. Several SLPP offices have also been set on fire, the Daily Mirror area correspondents have reported.
Some of the MPs whose houses have been attacked are, Wimal Weerawansa, Kanchana Wijesekara, Sanath Nishantha, Ramesh Pathirana, Nimal Lanza, Rohitha Abeygunawardena (Kalutara) and Keheliya Rambukwella (Kandy), Bandula Gunawardena, Prasanna Ranatunga, Channa Jayasumana, Kokila Gunawardena, Arundika Fernando, Tissa Kutti Arachchi, Kanaka Herath, Pavithra Wanniarachchi.
Security has been heightened outside all ruling party MP’s houses.
Meanwhile, the ancestral home of the Rajapaksas in Medamulana Hambantota has been set on fire by a group of protesters.
