The prices of all varieties of vegetables at the Dambulla Economic Centre were subject to a sharp decline by last morning. President of Dambulla Economic Centre Trader Association C. S. Siriwardene said large stocks of vegetables were being received at the economic centre. He said the retail traders and the consumers did not have to buy vegetables for exorbitant prices. He requested them to depend on the Dambulla Economic Centre for their requirements of vegetables.
The trader association requested the traders all over the country not to take advantage of the prevailing situation and sell vegetables for exorbitant prices causing inconvenience to consumers.
The price of carrot was between Rs.300 and 350 a kilo by last morning and that of cabbage between Rs.50 and 60. The price of butter beans was between Rs.650 and Rs.700. The price of brinjals was between Rs.100 and Rs.150 while sweet pumpkin between Rs.30 and Rs.50. The price of green chillies was Rs. 300 a kilo.
President of the trader association requested the retail traders and the consumers to be vigilant about the prices at Dambulla Economic Centre.
