The 45th Asian Summit on Remote Sensing, the premier international forum on sensing technologies for environmental monitoring, is to be held in Colombo next year.
Minister of Tourism and Lands Harin Fernndo on Monday sought the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers to host the 45th Asian Summit on Remote Sensing in Sri Lanka next year.
Accordingly, the Summit is scheduled to be held over five days in Colombo during October – November period of next year.
Considering the importance of remote sensing technology in national development activities, the countries in the Asia - Pacific region have formed the Asian Association on Remote Sensing (AARS).
This organization in which Sri Lanka also is an opening member is comprised of a numerous member groups, namely, general members, related members and sustainable members.
Established in 1981, AARS is one of the largest organisations in its field with over 29 member countries.
