Sri Lanka Insurance Life (SLIC Life) has declared a record Rs.14.68 billion bonus to the policyholders for 2025, the highest annual life insurance bonus payout in Sri Lanka’s insurance industry.
The latest declaration brings the company’s cumulative bonus payouts since 2006 to Rs.131.28 billion, extending what it described as an unmatched record of delivering the industry’s highest annual bonus over the years.
Sri Lanka’s life insurance sector continues to compete for long-term savings amid a gradually improving economic environment, with the policyholder bonuses remaining a key measure of the insurers’ ability to generate investment returns.
SLIC Life said its total asset base stood at Rs.275 billion at end-2025, while its life fund grew to Rs.247 billion, maintaining its position as the largest life fund in the industry.
The company also paid out more than Rs.16.2 billion in maturity benefits and claims during the year, averaging over Rs.1.35 billion a month, in addition to the annual bonus declaration.
The insurer reported a profit before tax of Rs.4.3 billion for 2025, while the gross written premium income rose 24 percent year-on-year to Rs.32.6 billion. The new business premium income recorded a stronger growth of 42 percent, reaching Rs.7.56 billion, reflecting the continued expansion of its customer base and policy sales.
SLIC Life said the results were supported by prudent investment management and financial stability, despite the evolving economic conditions during the year.
