Police, Navy launch search on mysterious boat with bodies

The Navy and Police launched a joint search operation this evening after receiving information of a mysterious boat carrying several bodies being drifted on the seas off Trincomalee.

Group of fishermen informed the Navy at Trincomalee, that they have witnessed a mysterious boat carrying several bodies drifting on the waters about 20 nautical miles off the shore.

The Navy had informed Trincomalee Harbour Police about the incident and a Dvora boat was launched to carry both police and sailors to locate the isolated boat.

Search was in progress with the use of the powerful search lights Police Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said. (Kurulu Koojana Kariyakarawana)

    These type of boats have been spotted even as far as Australia for the past few years. So far nobody knows where they originated from. Hope they solve this mystery soon.
