A Sri Lankan youth from Jaffna was arrested by ''Q'' branch of Tamil Nadu police for allegedly stealing two boats of fishermen of Dhanushkodi coastal hamlet.

Police said Ravinath had not registered himself as a refugee and it was not known when he had arrived in India.

They said one boat was found near Mandapam in a broken condition and the other anchored in mid-sea off Mandapam coast.

Ravinath was nabbed after he was found moving around in suspicious circumstances near Mandapam. During questioning, he said he had stolen the boats with the help of some other people, they said.

He would be further questioned to ascertain why he had not registered as a refugee and for what purpose he had stolen the boats, the sources said. (PTI)
