One of the two bodies discovered on the Wellawatte beach yesterday has been identified as that of the missing Maldivian national.

The Police recovered two unidentified male dead bodies on the beach at Wellawatte in Colombo on Saturday.

22-year-old Afham Naseer (23) from Dh.Kudahuvadhoo was reported missing on Saturday, according to the Maldivian media.

A member of his family who spoke to ‘Sun’ stated that the Sri Lankan authorities have confirmed his body was found near a railway track in Dehiwala beach area.

“The Sri Lankan intelligence revealed to me that his body was found with a knife and had wounds on his neck,” said the family member.

Additionally, the family revealed that authorities brought in the last person who met Afham and confirmed that the body found was his.

Although a knife was found with his body, the family does not believe that he inflicted the wounds himself.

Very strange death. Sad. It may be due to drug addicts' plunder and murder. People are not safe on the roads in the nights, can imagine in sea shores in the nights.

Poor guy. I am wondering why someone wants to study in Sri lanka. The number 1 university in Sri Lanka rankes 1600 worldwide. You can hardly call them universities.

That is why so called professors who got their degree in Sri Lanka are so incompetent. No matter what kind of workingfield : medical experts, lawyers, civil engineers...

A cold blooded murder. Had the victim been our son, how would we console? Foreign students will fear to study in Sri Lanka. Our immage is further drained.
