Colombo, June 12 (Daily Mirror) - Four Opposition parties, namely the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna (SLPP), United National Party (UNP) and the People's Alliance (PA) today announced that they have reached an agreement to jointly form administrations of local bodies where the ruling National People's Power (NPP) does not command a majority.
The announcement was made at a joint media briefing by SJB National Organiser Tissa Attanayake, SLPP General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam, PA General Secretary Lasantha Alagiyawanna and UNP General Secretary Thalatha Athukorala today.
The party seniors announced that they have already managed to form the administrations of the Akurana, Kadugannawa, Kuliyapitiya and Udubaddawa Pradeshiya Sabhas.
"We will secure the administrations of more local bodies," Attanayake said.
Alagiyawanna said the joint effort of the parties will be extended towards ensuring a quality service to the people through the local bodies.
