Colombo, July 23 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka Railways will commence operations of a new train service between Colombo Fort and Thalaimannar Port from tomorrow (July 24).
Accordingly, Train No. 5003 will operate from Colombo Fort to Thalaimannar Port, while Train No. 5004 will operate from Thalaimannar Port to Colombo Fort.
The train will depart from Colombo Fort at 3.50 a.m. and will reach Thalaimannar Port at 10.44 a.m., while the return journey from Thalaimannar Port will commence at 4.10 a.m.
The service will operate through major railway stations including Gampaha, Polgahawela, Kurunegala, Galgamuwa, Anuradhapura, Madhu Road, Mannar and Pesalai.
Sri Lanka Railways stated that the train will not stop at the Anuradhapura New Town Railway Station until the ongoing renovation work at the station is completed.
The new service will include two air-conditioned first-class compartments with seat reservation facilities. Passengers can reserve seats through the railway reservation system or by visiting railway stations.
Sri Lanka Railways requested the media to inform the public regarding the commencement of the new train service.
