Officers In-charge of Police stations across the country have been instructed to conduct raids on parties organized at hotels and other places with drugs specially today, Valentines Day, Police said.
Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said that Police intelligence officers in respective areas have also been notified to find the places where such illegal parties are being organized and inform the OICs in those areas.
He said it was revealed that drugs traffickers are using various methods such as organizing parties at hotels though the social media to sell their drugs among the youth.
The Spokesman also urged the parents to be vigilant on their children and their whereabouts as they could be a victim of such traffickers.
Similarly, he said the police raided two parties organized trough the Facebook in Anuradhapura and Kandy on Sunday and had arrested 43 persons including two women.
Seven persons were arrested at a party in a hotel in Dahaiyagama, Anuradhapura with possession several narcotic substances, including ICE and cannabis while 36 persons were arrested with narcotic substances during a raid on a party, arranged via Facebook in Kandy.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
