Sri Lanka’s petrol and diesel sales have plummeted from March to July this year, MP Patalli Champika Ranwaka said yesterday.

Diesel and Petrol sales plummeted to a whopping one third, from 6496 to 2299 and 3764 to 1226 tonnes per day, respectively, within the 4 months from March to July, 2022.

It is yet another glaring revelation of the severity of the economic disaster the country has made, to embroil Sri Lanka’s crisis,” one time Power and Energy Minister said in his twitter message.

Mr. Ranawaka earlier called for a detailed tangible economic and political programme that a future multi party government is expected to embark on.

This is completely wrong. Consumption has grown by 3 folds in comparison and it should be controlled and brought down. We cannot waste Forex on just gas and fuel.

Consumption dwelled not because of the economic situation, it was otherway around. Economic activities collapsed due to the shortage of fuel and the black market which are results of the Fx.Crisis. No fuel means no economic activity. Farmers got meager prices when the same veg were sold at exorbitant prices in Colombo, due to the excessive transport cost.

This statement itself show how stupid this guy is. Ranil should be careful not to bring these SJB guys too close. Very manipulative guy.

This is totally wrong. People have been queuing up for days and filling their tanks. No one has gone back empty tank. So where did all the fuel go-evaporated?????
