Pakistan attaches immense importance to its relations with SL: Imran Khan

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said yesterday (22) that Pakistan attaches immense importance to its relations with Sri Lanka as a reliable friend and partner.

He made these remarks after meeting with Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne who is currently in Pakistan on an official visit.

Premier Khan said that security and defence cooperation was a key component of Pakistan-Sri Lanka relations and a factor of peace and stability in the region.

The meeting took place at the Pakistan PM's office.

Fondly recalling his visit to Sri Lanka in February 2021, he reaffirmed the strong fraternal bonds between the two countries and Pakistan’s desire to comprehensively upgrade bilateral relations in all fields, according to the Pakistani PM's office.

Premier Imran Khan added that he was looking forward to the visit of Sri Lankan leadership to Pakistan.

Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne underlined the close cooperative ties between the two nations and expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support at international and regional fora.  

He reaffirmed the commitment to work together for the promotion of shared goals.

The Sri Lanka's Navy chief left for Pakistan on February 21on a formal visit and was accompanied by the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit Chandima Ulugetenne in this official visit. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
