Referring to the recent killings, the main opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) alleged that there is a serious breach of security in the nation.

SJB MP J. C. Alawathuwela told a press conference that the recent shooting incidents right up to the killing of a police constable in Tangalle was of great concern. “We wonder whether the government has lost control of the nation.,” Mr. Alawathuwela said.

“These incidents have tarnished Sri Lanka's reputation as there is anarchy all over the country. The acquittal of those who are charged with bribery and corruption will also damage the reputation of the country,” he added.

MP Mujibur Rahman who also participated in the press conference said the game plan is set to sweep the investigations on Easter Sunday attacks under the carpet.

“We question whether the government had requested the extradition of Sarah Jesmine the wife of the bomber who blew himself up at Katuwapitiya Church or whether the Interpol has been given the task to arrest her. It seems that this is not going to be done and the Easter Sunday attacks will be swept under the carpet,” he said.

Also Mr. Rahman revealed that the SJB is in the process of initiating a dialogue with other opposition parties to form a common struggle against the government.  (Yohan Perera)

Interpol is not a law enforcement agency as such it has no powers to investigate or arrest anyone. Only national police forces and law enforcement agencies have such authority.
