Mahendran’s appointment as CB Governor legal: Semasinghe

The appointment of Arujna Mahendran as the Governor of the Central Bank in 2015 has been legal and constitutional, State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe told Parliament.

The State Minister was responding to an oral question raised by SJB MP Chaminda Wijesekera.

Another question raised by MP Wijesiri as to whether Mahendran was involved in a bond scam caused arguments.

“The MP should be aware that there are a number of court cases pending with regard to the bond scam,” the State Minister said.

“The State Minister seems to be in difficulty as it was said those days that Mahendran was appointed by the incumbent President in 2015,” Wijesiri said. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)

While in the opposition these people had lambasted the appointment of Arjun Mahendran , now the same people are saying the legality of that appointment. What a dirty politics in Srilanka

The appointment of Mahendran may have been legal, but why has the Government given up the plan to get him down to face the Court Case ?
