Why appointing him of all people? I don't know enough about the civil war to have an opinion about the LTTE, but surely this appointment will divide society even more, I guess. Solheim also had to leave the UN evironment council because of malpractise. I am sure there are far more competent experts in Sri Lanka.

Interesting - Erik Solheim was forced to resign from the UN, following an investigation by the internal oversight serverices into how he had spent 500000 USD on his business class tickets and hotels in 22 months. Several member states started to withhold funding into the UN as his trips were seen as counter productive as someone heading the environmental programme who is supposed to advocate against reasons which contribute to climate change. And here we have the person who abused UN funds for excessive amounts on business class flights, being appointed in Sri Lanka to be an international advisor. Will he do the same - by using Sri Lankan tax payers money? There is something very fishy about his appointment.

Reply to the above racist comment : I am mixed race (Surinam father) just like a lot of Western people have different origins. Only in my small country people have almost 200 different origins. I never experienced so much racism as when I was living in Sri Lanka. not even in the USA. Why do you think a comment about skin, also white skin, is not a racist comment?

Sri Lankan politicians do not have any solid policy and they change as and when they find their interest in anyone or anything. Some time they go behind the India and some time behind China and some time behind the west and there is no fixed policy for them ..all what they want is their interest to be protected at all situation even at the expense of the country and its people .

Erik Solheim played a role during the war against the TAMIL LTTE TERRORIST a total bias toward TAMIL community and supported the TAMIL TERRORIST LTTE that really led the international community to act against Sri Lankan government. Therefore, his involvement in Sri Lanka is dangerous for the United Sri Lanka concept and it will create a new problems in Sri Lanka's political and social arena.
