All Island Canteen Owners' Association (AICOA) has decided to reduce the price of a lunch packet and a cup of plain tea from tonight.

AICOA Chief Asela Sampath told the Daily Mirror that the decision was taken due to price reduction of LITRO gas and the prices of certain food stuff.

The profit gained after reducing the price of essential items should be given to the consumers as they are in a very critical situation.

Accordingly, the price of a lunch packet will be reduced by 10% and a cup of plain tea will sold be Rs.30.

The price reduction of lunch packets will apply only for the price range above Rs.200. There will be no price reduction on the lunch packets sold at the canteens. (Chatruanga Samarawickrama)

But electricity is going up by a whopping 75%, so how can you reduce the price

What nonsense ,it went up by nearly Rs 100 with the increase of gas price by nearly 3 folds , so this decrease will be not felt by the suffering masses.

DM readers are only interested in if there will be enough meals served in the businessclass of Sri Lanka Airlines. That has toppriority in our country at the moment. Never mind the severe malnutrition of the poor.
