Archbishop of Colombo, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, today said he has no intention of seeking any political posts or to support any political party.
Cardinal Ranjith said in a special statement that his only intention is to work for God and the people whom he gives leadership to.
“I was saddened and astonished to hear that certain persons are recommending me for various political posts. I as a Bishop, my only intention is to engage in spiritual activities,” the Cardinal said.
“I will work for safeguarding the country’s culture and my work will be limited to fulfilling this objective,” he added.
The Cardinal added that he is grateful to the statements made about him by a few persons but he expects and hoped that the effort to drag him into politics would stop immediately. (Yohan Perera)

Then stop making political comments your holiness. Men of the Church shouldn't be making comments about God punishing the current establishment even if the current establishment escapes the punishment of the people as you mentioned the other day. Even if true or not, that is not a comment for a priest and does not equal lord Jesus teachings.

Learned religious leaders like Cardinal and other people respected by the people must take the reins to lead the country out of this mess; not the party politics.

This is what he has been doing right from the start. He is a priest in political underwear. Its high time he kept his big mouth shut. Rusty

We know how you have always been supporting a particular political group. Stop taking advantage of this situation to do that

Taking the side of politicians is also an act of getting involved with politics.

Well when there are no real political figures apart from people either who loves power or money will beome politicians, people tends to rely on real true religious leaders. I think only Muslim politicians do something for their people not any others.
Example Leader for other leaders Tuesday, 14 May 2019 01:12 PM
WE are really proud of Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith. He is the example of all other religious leaders. We Need a leader like this in this country, who is well qualified, understanding and try to sort out critical problems at critical time. May God bless him
