Referring to the move to prohibit unvaccinated people above 30 years of age from entering Bandarawela and Mannar Towns, the Health Ministry said they did not issue guidelines to implement such a move.
Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath told a news briefing held at the Health Promotion Bureau that there should be a proper mechanism if such a move to be executed.
“As of now, we have not issued any guidelines pertaining to implementation of such a move,” he said.
The security forces personnel were seen sending back people who attempted to enter the said two cities without the vaccination card on Wednesday (15).
Meanwhile, Police Spokesman SPP Nihal Thalduwa told the Daily Mirror that the relevant decision has been taken by the respective District Coordinating Committees on Prevention of COVID-19.
“However, the Policemen have not been informed to carry out such a move by the IGP or the Government,” he said.
“According to information I have received, the move initiated in the two cities has been discontinued and was in action only one day,” the Spokesman added. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

How can they come up with such laws? This is against human rights. You guys should opress the country which created the virus not the people who aren't interested in getting the vaccine.

Just to spread fear and force people to get vaccinated.

RIdiculous. You cannot discriminate against people on grounds of their supposed "health" status. It is elementary immunology that people can have natural immunity from a functioning immune system, even at senior age. The only people who need vaccinations are those with sub-par immunity. Immune function status can easily be tested, even for vaccination. If immune status is below par, then vaccinate. If very poor function, also don't vaccinate due to possible adverse reaction, even fatal. Vaccination is indicated only when an immune system needs a boost. Even with this approach, there is no guarantee that at a given time, the immune system would be at par. Bottom line is respect peoples healthcare choices. It's their body, their life. This is a fundamental right in a civilised society. It is implicit or explicit in the Nuremburg Code, the Helsinki Declaration and several other international conventions. No need to go back to the dark ages of persecuting supposed "witches".
