Four organized criminals arrested in Kaduwela

The Kaduwela Police arrested four suspects involved in organized crimes in the Gothatuwa, Maharagama, Kaduwela and Kahathuduwa areas.

Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said the arrested suspects are aged between 21 and 43 and are residents of Mattegoda.

The suspects were found in possession of four stolen motorcycles, a three wheeler, an air rifle used to intimidate the public during crimes, a locally made hand grenade and a foreign made hand grenade. 

It has been revealed that these suspects were involved in kidnapping people to extort money from them.

The spokesman said that one of the arrested suspects was wanted over assaulting a monk with a sharp weapon and causing serious injuries at Koswatta in Chilaw.

The suspects were produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate's Court today and three of them were remanded till March 4 while one suspect was released on Rs. 1 million surety bail.
