The Colombo Fort Police today filed a facts report pertaining to the public protest which has been continuing in the Galle Face green area.
This report (A/21838/22) has been filed under the signature of Fort Police Station OIC reserving their duty to file a fresh B report if the protest turned violence.
In its report, the Fort Police said the protest has caused severe traffic congestion near the Galle Face green area and caused disturbance to pedestrians. Police also reported to the court that the use of unauthorized loudspeakers has caused noise pollution in the area. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)

Not only that it violates the constitution by undue pressure to make the presidential position vacant while it clearly constitue proper provision how this position falls vacant .This tantamounts to take resignation under duress.

He should have resigned himself when it became obvious that he has FAILED in every possible way without waiting till the citizens demanded it!!! The president vacating the post is one of ways the presidency falls vacant according to the constitution.

These are peacefull protests and there are no pedestrians All are protestors and its not a residential area and the use of loudspeakers are allowed in non residential areas These are legitimate struggles of the starving people against a highly looting regime of robbers

Police, police police. These people are non violent and they are using PA systems and since there is no residence around whats your problem. For every wrong action you take you will have to pay the price. So don't make a big fuss about.

Nothing can stop the protests. Police you will fail

Why didn't the cops complain when 'night races' were held on these roads? So transparent!
D S de Silva Monday, 18 April 2022 09:53 PM
Peaceful protests are allowed under a democratic constitution, its for the police to make sure they divert traffic and keep the roads safe. You cannot file against against peaceful demonstrations, in every country where democracy is practiced there are peaceful demonstrations. The police ensure the traffic is diverted from the area and law and order is maintained. It seems like the police doesn't know how to do their job right. Looks like another weak stroke of the failing regime.

Mahinda Rajapaksa is actively organising this through his faithful DIG’s.

Where were you when ruling party had massive meetings with loudspeakers? Were you selectively deaf? Were you selectively blind to traffic congestions? It's so pathetic.
