He said country is incurring about USD 30 million in losses per month due to smuggling of gold into the country.

The minister said that these traffickers have already been identified and that necessary legal measures will be taken against them immediately. However, he emphasized that common passengers will not be affected due to this. (DSB)

You simplify the law and taxing and people will do the right way. When you have a bunch of thieves running the country, what confidence people have?

Always the ministry and media gives only half cooked news. Is it not possible to mentioned the allowed gold weight in the news so the general public will be aware. Media should focus on awareness, not just posting news.

Wonder if they wear the same amount of jewelry when going to the loo. The extent people go to smuggle. Then put forward blimey excuse such as 'religion' , 'tradition' . Next level would be to get a certificate from some crack astrologer to say that the bearer needs to be clad in 50 or so gold sovereign to ward off some evil!
