We have been talking about education since we got independence..but old days it was good education at least high-resolution was good ..the Quality of university has been good but recently it went down ..so many issues out there about rhd quality of our school education.. I don't know how and when these will be resolved. Poor salary ; poor facilities; poor teacher training and poor building and staff shortage and many issues ..

Why should chilfdren have to cram 200 verses in old sinhala instead of contemporary sinhala. For olevel Children should be allowed to be creative. Secondly why is religion a compulsory subject and why is sunday school going to be compulsory. What about people without a religion. The constitution guarantees freedom of faith a basic human right. There is no diminution in the crime rate despite having thousands of sunday schools. The causes have to be addressed.

Education World Forum is Emancipating Experience and Susil Premajayantha is enthralled and wants to Head towards multitude frontiers enabling, better Educational Standards and Outcomes for SL Education!!!?? Expand Capacity of SL education!! Good move, but any projects under World Bank are as “hard a Task”, even harder than (Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) terms of lending and procurement!!! The mysterious reason the Light Rail Project (LRT) was cancelled after 2-3 months of negotiation of the already negotiated, signed and sealed contract (wrestle out some Party Funding) by the newly elected government of November 2019!!! No Santhosam!!??

We need to stop following the British School System and adopt the American model instead which is more balanced and producers well rounded individuals. The British system is outdated. We also must put more emphasis on improving the English language in our education system. Like it or not, English is the international language of communication and if we are to progress as a society, we have to be able to communicate well (both written and verbal) with the rest of the world.

First , as long as Stalin is there, you cannot expect any change in school education. As long as JVP is there you cannot normalise and improve tertiary education. So these two have teamed up together to make majority more stupid.

Over the years repeated Education Ministers have been strengthening the education system to what end, today very few students can speak in English.

All SL school children do it is to go to tuition classes and cram fro exams. You only realise how much SL education system has to improve when you see millions of unemployable, unskilled non work-ready graduates coming from SL schools and universities, demanding government jobs. They are not ready for global job markets. You only realise this when you travel overseas. It is about how much you don't know. Take for example, SL public servants coming out of SL universities. They are utterly hopeless and also are restricted by their political masters who are equally uneducated. Secondly, SL universities are flooded with useless subjects, mainly inn the Arts stream. How do you get a job when you study Sanskrit, Pali, Buddhist civilations, etc etc. People should go and see how developed countries work and how their public servants in key agencies operate and their skills levels. You do not need to go far, just go to Singapore a Japan. SL has a long way to go, and better be quick.
