A few ministers are likely to have a change of their portfolios when the next Cabinet is appointed with the accommodation of MPS who will join the government from the opposition, Daily Mirror learns.

Ports and Shipping, Environment and Power and Energy are reported to be among them.

According to an informed source, there are differences between Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera and his other Cabinet colleagues on fuel distribution criterion.

Now, two committees headed by Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardane have been appointed to look into fuel purchases and distribution.

The available stocks of fuel are sufficient for nearly one month.

Two more shipments of fuel are expected by the middle of August.

The government is now working out arrangements to find US dollars for the payment of these shipments.

The Prime Minister chaired a meeting yesterday morning to discuss fuel rationing under the proposed QR Code system.

At the moment, around four million vehicles have been registered with it. (Kelum Bandara)
