Quick rice imports to counter hoarding
The Cooperative and Internal Trade Minister Johnston Fernando had ordered the Sathosa to make provisions to immediately import 100,000 metric tons of rice to avoid a price increase of rice in the local market.
Several customers had complained to the Ministry that vendors were hoarding rice stocks expecting a price increase. (LSP)
