Colombo, Dec. 31 (Daily Mirror) - The number of firecracker related incidents usually increase during every festive season in the country and people should keep in mind to minimise these accidents, National Hospital, Colombo Chief Nurse Training Officer Pushpa Ramya De Soyza said.

She told the media that adults should remember not to light fire crackers while holding them in their hand and also not to let small children light fire crackers.

Young children should light crackers under the observation of their parents or elders, she stressed.

She also told the people not to bathe in rivers, streams etc. while risking their lives.

This is one of the main reasons why firecrackers are banned in developed countries. In Sri Lanka hospitals have plenty of money and resources to treat firecracker related incidents and people Have plenty of money to spend on firecrackers so nothing to worry.

Ironically- the very people who complain about not being able to have 3 square meals a day are the ones who light crackers! And we pay for their treatment in govt hospitals.
