Train derails at Colombo Fort, disrupting rail services

Colombo, July 7 (Daily Mirror) - A train scheduled to depart from Colombo Fort Railway Station for Rambukkana at 4.45 p.m. derailed at around 4.50 p.m. today while approaching its designated platform.

The Railways Department said the derailment has blocked four platforms at Colombo Fort Railway Station, disrupting normal rail operations.

The Department said the incident is likely to cause delays to several trains departing from Colombo Fort as efforts are underway to clear the affected tracks and restore normal services.

No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the derailment has not yet been announced. Railway officials are expected to investigate the incident.
