The majority of the tourists come to Sri Lanka travel on popular upcountry trains. The government want to see tourism sector increasing beyond the current level but not interested in investing in infrastructure improvements. Unlike in other countries, our politicians' priority is trying to work out ways to fatten their pockets.

We have and having weak upcountry politicians and transport ministry. Derailment between Watagoda and Hatton due to frequent earth slips almost happening so many days in a year and so many decades. Our people have no technical idea to solve the problem for the smooth functioning of the railway line.

Ah, tourists will miss the chance to explore the longest tunnel, SINGIMALEE, during this period of closure. Hopefully, the necessary repairs will be made swiftly, allowing both locals and visitors to once again appreciate the scenic beauty and engineering marvels along this route.
