A train derailed this morning at the Kalutara railway station when the Maradana-bound Kalutara train entered the station, the Railways Department said.
Three train compartments of the train that had left Maradana at 5.45 a.m. derailed at 7.20 a.m.
Due to the derailment commuters travelling to their home towns today for the Sinhala Tamil New Year have been inconvenienced.

Maybe the entire Sri Lanka Railway should be scrapped including locomotives, wagons and rails. Good prices are paid for scrap metal. The railway lines could be converted into beautiful pilgrim hiking trails and the train stations into pilgrim rests.

Even Ugandan, Zimbabwean Railway would do better JOB instead of this Macabre situation!!!??? Money is wasted by Nincompoops!!??? Running around like headless Chooks!! None else!!?? They are Inept and incompetent to the core, even to simply understand, why something is happening, and process avoiding repetition in the future??? They call themselves Engineers, but even can’t do the job of a “Rattle-Snake Catcher”!!?? If that is engineering, then please ENLIGHTEN ME WHAT IS NOT!!!???

High time the Railway department acted on these derailments seems to be regular occurrence,those at fault/neglgent punished
