Maho, Jan 23 (Daily Mirror) - A foreign tourist and a guide were hospitalised after their motorcar collided with the Rajarata Rejini express train at the Midigama railway station this morning.

The Railways Department said the train was heading towards Maho junction when the accident occurred. Meanwhile, police said there were two tourists and a tour guide in the car durinag the accident.
One of the tourists and the tour guide were hospitalised with injuries.

The Railways Department said the car had tried to cross the level crossing while the warning bell was still ringing and the warning light was still on.

Thank God, there were no fatalities. I doubt whether the warning bells and lights were working. In this area most do not and the CGR is quite lethargic about it.

Warning bells or not it is the driver's responsibility to check if a train is approaching. They normally do not come quietly.

If warning bells were not ringing and the view was obstructed the driver should have asked the tour guide to get off, look the two sides and guide the driver. This is good for our tourism

police should cancel the driving licence of the concerned driver and no insurance claim be paid for the vehicle and driver.
