Colombo, July 7 (Daily Mirror) - Three of the four platforms blocked following a train derailment at the Colombo Fort Railway Station have now been reopened after the affected train was rerouted and moved to Maradana Railway Station, railway authorities said.
A train scheduled to depart from Colombo Fort for Rambukkana at 4.45 p.m. derailed at around 4.50 p.m. today while approaching its designated platform.
The Railways Department said the derailment initially blocked four platforms at Colombo Fort Railway Station, disrupting normal train operations.
However, authorities have since cleared three of the affected platforms after removing the derailed train and transferring it to Maradana Railway Station.
Repair work is currently underway only on the railway track at Platform 8, where the derailment occurred.
Railway officials said the reopening of the three platforms is expected to ease disruptions to train services while repairs to the damaged track continue.
