Price of rice and curry, kottu, milk tea, plain tea, fried rice increased

In light of the substantial increase in food production costs, the All-Ceylon Restaurant Owners’ Association (ACROA) has announced price hikes for Kottu, Fried Rice, and a cup of milk tea and plain tea, effective from last night.

Accordingly, the price of a cup of plain tea has been increased by Rs. 5 and a cup of milk tea by Rs. 10.

The price of a packet of rice and curry will be increased by Rs. 25.

The price of a packet of Kottu and Fried Rice will be increased by Rs. 50 each.

If there are decreases in consumer goods prices, they are prepared to offer corresponding concessions to the public, the association said.

Carrots increase to 2500/- they increase. Now carrots below 400/- again they increase. Even if you make some ingredients free of charge, they’ll still increase! Even if eggs are sold at 25/- they will still make egg hopper 150/-

We hardly by foods from restaurants. Not that we can't afford. It’s not worth or taste for the money we pay when you compare to the neighboring countries like India or Pakistan.

You can increase by any amount you want but the public that decides. With these prices people will not want even to drink a plain tea from the market bringing down the business.
