President thanks China for disaster relief support
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has extended his deep appreciation to President Xi Jinping, the Government, and the people of China for their solidarity and generous support to Sri Lanka following the recent severe weather.
The President noted that China has provided USD 1 million and RMB 10 million worth of disaster relief supplies, underscoring the longstanding friendship between the two nations. He said that China has consistently stood by Sri Lanka in difficult moments, offering strength and assistance to affected communities.
President Dissanayake also highlighted that with the establishment of the “Rebuilding Sri Lanka” fund, the country is now transitioning from search and rescue operations to resettlement and rebuilding. He added that Sri Lanka looks forward to China’s continued support during the recovery phase.
