Colombo, Sept. 19 (Daily Mirror) - Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources, Ramalingam Chandrasekar made a strong statement against corruption, stating that there will be no forgiveness for politicians who have engaged in bribery, fraud and looting of public assets.
“They will never escape the clutches of the law,” the Minister said while addressing the public during the inauguration ceremony of the Colombuthurai Jetty reconstruction project.

The project comes in response to a request made by stakeholders in the Jaffna region. The proposal was brought before the Cabinet and promptly approved, with a budget allocation of Rs. 140 million for the jetty's reconstruction.
Speaking at the event, Minister Chandrasekar emphasized the government’s commitment to uplifting the Northern Province. “While developing the country, we are also taking active steps to revitalize Jaffna district. We are creating new income-generating opportunities for the local population, especially in areas that were long neglected,” he said.
Highlighting the support received from the Tamil community in recent elections, the Minister pledged continued investment in the region. “This area is important to us. The people here have placed their trust in us, and we are determined to deliver,” he added.
“We are determined to eradicate bribery, corruption, and fraud in this country. Those involved are now fearful. The judiciary has been granted full freedom, and there will be no political interference. The law will act, and there will be no escape for the corrupt," he said.
