Colombo, July 7 (Daily Mirror) - Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa today visited the National Hospital of Sri Lanka to review the condition of those injured in the recent unrest at the Negombo Prison.
The Minister met injured prison officers and inmates receiving treatment at Wards 72 and 79, as well as the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and was briefed on their medical condition and the treatment being provided.
He also held discussions with hospital administrators, doctors, nursing staff and prison officials on the progress of treatment, immediate requirements and necessary support measures for the injured.
According to the Health Ministry, 29 people injured during the Negombo Prison incident remain admitted to the NHSL, including 15 prison officers and 14 inmates.
