’I did something, I shouldn’t have done’: Prasanna Ranaweera

State Minister Prasanna Ranaweera, who was summoned to the airport police over the assault on a porter, said he had done something that he should not have done as a Parliamentarian.
He told this to the media after giving a statement to the police this morning.
Responding to a question that the porter who was assualted had not reported for duty after the incident and that his whereabouts were not known, the Minister said, "Why, he should come to work. Otherwise there is now way for him to live."
State Minister Prasanna Ranaweera provided a statement to the Airport Police over the incident where he assaulted a porter at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).
Minister Ranaweera had been summoned by the Airport Police to record a statement over the incident this morning.
Durimg this particular incident, the Minister, along with his armed security personnel, had attempted to enter the airport through the main entrance and airport security officers had intervened, informing the Minister that his security detail could not bring firearms into the airport.
He had then threatened several security officers and assaulted a porter who was assisting with the luggage of the Minister's wife.

In Sri Lanka all are common people, no ROYALS now, the way MPs behave is a clear proof of what their educational levels are, some bribe and get their qualifications without sitting exams, so now you can see the result, this is what happens when uneducated morones and thugs rule a country of well educated, honest, hard-working people, who look after their children and their parents, and never look up for any favours from these morons, who are beggars, robbers and culprits - burden to the country as they are fed by the tax payer of the country. Where is the humanity.... an other human working at the Airport to earn his living... I often give more than ...RS1000 Other day i took auto..... RS800 rupees, i told him taxi driver i have no ruppees, and need to change $, sunday all bank closed, he said dont worry I work in tamil area, they help me, no need to pay. And i gave him the $note - he was so moved... Make someone happy.... atleast dont give pain.. Obviously we need NPP - to wipeout all these morons

This is our 2500 year old civilisations culture we abuse and even assault others especially those in lesser occupations. In one of my jobs in Europe I ordered the department driver to do something and he flared up at my tone. An elderly lady called me into her office and said I am working in a job because of my education and he because of his lack of opportunities and not to talk to him in the manner I did. From that day onwards I changed the way I interact with people from all walks of life. In one on the jobs in UK I marvelled how the white collar managers would respectfully interact with blue collar workers. This is why everyone wants to live in UK
