Government refutes claims of removing security assigned to political leaders

Colombo, July 7 (Daily Mirror) - Deputy Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Sunil Watagala refuted claims that security provided to political leaders has been removed.

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Kavinda Jayawardane told Parliament that security provided to political leaders has been removed and questioned whether those security personnel had been assigned for other duties or remain in the pool of the Ministerial Security Division.

The Deputy Minister said the MP's claims are half truths and that security has been provided to former Presidents and politicians based on the threat assessements on them.
