June.05 (Mirror Sports) - Sri Lanka have suffered an injury setback ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, with Shashini Gimhani ruled out of the tournament after sustaining a lower-back injury during training.
The ambidextrous wrist-spinner was part of Sri Lanka’s original 15-member squad but was unable to travel with the team to England. Right-arm seamer Chethana Vimukthi has been named as her replacement.
Vimukthi is yet to make her T20I debut for Sri Lanka but has represented the national side in three ODIs against New Zealand in 2025.
Led by Chamari Athapaththu, Sri Lanka will begin their Women’s T20 World Cup campaign against England at Edgbaston on June 12.
