Sri Lanka received four Ring-tailed lemurs and three Emu's last night from the Czech Republic, National Zoological Gardens' Director-General Tilak Premakantha said.
He told Daily Mirror that two female Ring-tailed lemur;s were from the 'Zoo JH s.r.o.', two male Ring-tailed lemur's, and three Emu's were from 'Jihočeská zoologická' and 'Zahrada Hluboká nad Vltavou'.
These animals were brought to the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) at 9.10 p.m. on flight TK-6184 belonging to the Turkish Airline.
These animals were brought to the country under the animal exchange programme between the two countries.
The animals will be taken to the Pinnawala Zoo to undergo a one-month quarantine process before being set up for public viewing.
Two female Fishing Cats will be sent to the Czech Republic under the animal exchange programme.
Emus are the second-largest living flightless birds in Australia. The emu is more than 1.5 metres (5 feet) tall and may weigh more than 45 kgs (100 pounds). Emus can run at nearly 50 kms (30 miles) per hour and if cornered, they kick with their big three-toed feet. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)

Living in a cold climes of the Czech Republic .would have been hard for they are highly nomadic birds who are genetically so inclined to live in areas not so cool as Tasmania and not hot as in the interior of the continent of Australia ...It sure is ..hard life for a birds no doubt ..yet again to another confined space , the bird may look like the original physically but not otherwise .
